We are looking for an experienced external auditor at Senior Associate or Manager level to join our audit team in Ōtautahi / Christchurch - the bustling, revitalised city of Aotearoa’s South Island. From PwC’s vibrant offices overlooking the Avon River, you will never be too far from both the hotspots of the central city and the stunning natural landscapes of Canterbury and beyond. There are not many cities in the world where you can visit snowy mountains and the sea on the same day! This is a full-time opportunity, minimum 37.5 hours per week. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the 'audit in charge' or managing audit engagements across a variety of the industries including manufacturing, agriculture, utilities, professional services, property and much more. 
  • Supervising junior staff and coaching them on audit methodology and best-practice. 
  • Becoming an integral part of building the public's trust and confidence in our clients by delivering high quality audits of  financial statements.  
  • Working directly with clients and teams, understanding our clients' needs, checking compliance with policies and procedures, testing internal controls and substantiating financial information. 
  • Using cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional external audit work.

Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience       

  • 3+ years work experience as an external auditor for a large, global auditing firm.
  • Proven experience supervising, coaching and leading junior staff members on audit engagements. 
  • Experience working with globally recognised financial reporting standards such as IFRS 
  • A relevant Bachelor's or Master's qualification in accounting or a closely-related subject.
  • You must be a studying towards or a qualified member of relevant professional accounting such as, but not limited to, CAANZ, CPA , ACCA or ICAEW
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
