Job description
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure proactive identification of risks and mitigating actions for the L&WC strategy.
- Lead the Control by Design Squad for the BCB Lending Platform to ensure transformation is delivered safely by ensuring all requirements include regulatory obligations, Consumer Duty and opportunities to improve control environment, e.g. increase in preventative controls, automated controls and/or automated control monitoring. They are also accountable for ensuring build aligns to the requirements, and is tested completely and accurately to ensure we deliver change safety for our clients and the bank.
- Increases capabilities in team to uplift their skills on data, automation of controls, consumer duty and end2end accountability.
- Ensures all new products and customer propositions or material changes to are fully aligned with regulatory obligations and Consumer Duty.
- Leads the implementation of the Group Risk Management Framework, Policies, Consumer Duty and End2End Accountability.
- Proactively performs robust root cause analysis and read across on relevant Material Events, Risk Events, Audits and Rectifications to prevent reoccurrence and reduce potential customer harm.
- Proactively performs horizon scanning to understand potential internal and external headwinds that could impact the L&WC business and its risk and control environment. Leads in the delivery of relevant regulatory submissions (ensuring completeness and accuracy, and focus on compliance with regulatory obligations and consumer duty), and competently engages with the regulators on key areas of focus, addressing their concerns where required.
Capabilities, Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Uses judgement to recognise and effectively manage (or raise) risk and control issues.
- Evidences strong risk management, controls, data and compliance capabilities.
- Evidences thought leadership and innovation to develop enhanced ways to manage risk and controls are managed (e.g., through use of data and automation).
- Understands the current regulatory environment and impacts on Business & Commercial Banking.
- Strong understanding and ability to embed Consumer Duty obligations.
- Strong coaching and leadership capabilities.
- High level of partner management, influencing and communication skills, particularly at a senior level and to senior committees (e.g., BCB Risk Committee and Product Governance Committee).
- Understand the key drivers and challenges facing Business & Commercial Banking colleagues and clients.
- Able to proactively seek opportunities and deliver improvements to enhance the customer and colleague journey.
- Focus on customer and passion for LBG values, including sustainability.
- Willingness to collaborate and work as a team to improve our control environment and embed end2end accountability.
