Job description
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing risk-based validations and broader reviews to analyse and assess the effectiveness, adequacy, and maturity of the model controls operating across the business
- Creating proposals for strengthening and simplifying the model risk control environment
- Providing formal risk opinions to the Executive committees, and detailed briefings to the IP&I Model, Analytics & Data Risk Director and Chief Risk Officer
- Offering advice, guidance, and independent challenge to key strategic change initiatives
- Influencing delivery and oversighting the embedding of Model Governance, Internal Model Change, and Data Policies in IP&I in line with Group Strategy and Risk Appetite
- Analysing thematic review outcomes to derive insights about, and report on the IP&I Risk and control environment
- Reviewing and responding to regulatory developments, consultations, and requests for information
- Supporting the improvement of model capabilities, and understanding of the wider model landscape, across IP&I Risk
Key skills/Capabilities:
- Qualified actuary (or qualified by experience) with experience of model risk management - ideally gained across Line 1 and Line 2 roles
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills, with experience in problem solving
- Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, capable of engaging openly and with confidence on complex issues through the gathering of appropriate context
- Building and influencing positive relationships with the business, whilst demonstrating your credibility through the delivery of constructive challenge
- Ability to work to tight timescales, and multi-task across competing priorities
- A dedication to self-development and keeping knowledge up-to-date
- The ability to interpret complex data flows, model documentation and regulations, and to manage ambiguity and change
Desirable:
- Experience of working with a variety of model applications, e.g. Prophet, R, Excel, SAS, Python
