The role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Group Technical Accounting Manager to serve as the primary point of contact within our organisation for all accounting-related technical queries. Exceptional project management capabilities will also be essential in coordinating, leading and ensuring efficient and timely execution of a wide range of accounting-related projects. Beyond this, you will play a vital part in building strong relationships across multiple teams and fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.

What you will do

  • Provide expert guidance and advice on accounting technical matters to internal stakeholders, acting as a reliable resource and ensuring correct application and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Conduct in-depth research on emerging accounting areas for the Group, new IFRS accounting standards, and discrepancies between IFRS and local GAAPs, and produce comprehensive impact assessments to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical accounting memos for both internal and external stakeholders, including the Audit Committee and external auditors. These memos will encompass both relevant journal entries and financial statement disclosures.
  • Ensure external reporting, such as interim and annual reports, adhere to IFRS and company law requirements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in technical accounting and communicate and present these updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement and document accounting policies and processes for the Group, establishing and maintaining a comprehensive Group accounting policy manual.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of training sessions for internal stakeholders on relevant accounting matters.
  • Own and develop the Group Reporting team's project workflow process, supporting with the allocation of projects between team members as needed.
  • Enhance your knowledge of Group processes and financial data by supporting the wider Group Reporting team with month and quarter end processes.
  • Collaborate on various ad hoc Group projects, taking on both leading and supporting roles as required.

Skills and behaviours

  • Relevant professional qualification, such as ACA (or similar) with 6+ year PQE
  • Experience working in audit or technical advisory desirable
  • Advanced and up to date knowledge of IFRS essential
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities and ability to work independently
  • Proactive and keen to drive change
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly.
  • Exposure to listed companies an advantage
