About the role

An opportunity has arisen to join the Asset & Liability Management team in the Balance Sheet Management control department as a specialist market risk manager (internally known as Manager - Asset & Liability Management). In this role you will be directly responsible for market risk policy and appetite as well as acting as the subject matter expert in other aspects of ongoing management and regulatory and internal reporting for market risk. This role has no line management responsibility.

As ALM Specialist you'll be joining an established team and will drive improvements to, and understanding of, the risk framework. This role would ideally suit someone with a strong market risk background who is looking to build on that knowledge and expand into other aspects of ALM.

In this role you'll digest changes to the regulatory landscape and articulate what they mean for YBS. So, developing a strong knowledge of YBS’ balance sheet will be key to success in the role. In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture and will own and lead improvements to the market risk reporting suite.

About you

You'll need in-depth knowledge of Market Risk management tools, such as NII, VaR, PV01. This'll be coupled with:

  • Familiarity with the banking book and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management within an organisation

  • Past experience of contributing to an ICAAP IRRBB statement

  • Examples of delivering change within tight deadlines and having stakeholder engagement through the journey

  • Excellent attention to detail and a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset

  • Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills – demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements

  • You’ll be someone who is keen to help others learn and develop and, while not a manager, you’ll be a leader who supports a team of analysts to deliver great work.
