Job Details

An energy business based just north of Leeds, with a global remit and commitment to sustainable and innovative energy solutions, is looking for a Head of Internal Audit to take ownership of their Assurance Function. This is a highly visible role within the UK business, with excellent exposure to the global executive team, and is pivotal in leading the Risk Management, Internal Controls and Governance processes across the business.

Utilising a Risk-based audit strategy, the main objectives of this role will be the mitigation of key risks through the implementation and testing of robust Controls. This role will work closely with other departments enhancing this, reporting into the CFO and Audit Committee through transparency and accountability.

This is an excellent opportunity within a global corporation. Given the nature of the role, an office presence is required and as such candidates must be located in the north of England.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, improve and implement the annual risk-based audit plan addressing the operational and financial risks across the UK business and its European entities
  • Lead the Internal Audit team, ensuring work is to a high-standard, delegating responsibilities, and coaching as needed to maintain Audit quality
  • Attend executive meetings, report Audit findings to the CFO and Audit Committee as needed, and provide useful insight into the most effective, actionable recommendations based on these findings
  • Lead by example to foster a culture of Risk awareness and robust Internal Controls

Requirements:

  • Accountancy qualified, e.g. ACA, ACCA
  • Ideally Audit trained within a top Practice firm
  • Demonstrable experience within the Energy, Commodities, or Oil and Gas sectors or similar
  • Excellent leadership experience and relationship management skills
