As a valued contributor to our team, you will advise on risk monitoring and reviews for the organization, coordinate risk mitigation activities, and provide risk mitigation assistance to other groups.
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
The Legal and Regulatory Risk Management Advisor role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care, so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
- Work with the Multifamily division to identify and advise on specialty risks, such as Fair Lending and Fraud in partnership with Legal and Regulatory Compliance.
- Analyze relevant specialty risks and advise on controls to adequately mitigate and manage risks.
- Work with Legal and Regulatory Compliance to identify changes to laws and regulations which impact Multifamily's core business activities.
- Conduct training on law and regulation changes related to specialty risks.
- Develop and conduct a testing methodology to evaluate the operational effectiveness of controls specifically designed to mitigate law and regulation risks.
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Minimum Required Experience
- 6 years of relevant experience in operational or compliance risk; 8 years preferable
- 4 years of relevant focused compliance risk discipline, such as Fair Lending
Desired Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Compliance Risk Certification
- Experience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions
- Determining causes of operational risk events and taking corrective action
- Risk assessment and management skills including evaluating and designing controls, conducting impact assessments, identifying control gaps, and remediating risk
- Documentation and database reporting skills for the purposes of analysis, data discovery, and decision-making with the use of relevant software such as Crystal Reports, Excel, or SSRS
- Influencing skills including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience analyzing data to identify trends or relationships to inform conclusions about the data
- Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion
- Able to work with individuals having different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively while working toward a common goal
- Skilled in presenting information and/or ideas to an audience in a way that is engaging and easy to understand
- Skilled in the graphical representation of information in the form of charts, diagrams, pictures, and dashboards with programs and tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
- Governance and compliance experience including creating policies, evaluating compliance, conducting internal investigations, and developing data governance
- Relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and building relationship networks
- Experience identifying measures, or indicators of system performance, and the actions needed to improve or correct performance to achieve desired outcomes
- Experience identifying and selecting strategic options, and identifying resources to meet the defined objectives
- Experience identifying and determining levels of risk to an organization's networks and systems using cybersecurity techniques and tools such as penetration testing, application security, and intel
- Ability to frame ideas as systems and analyze the inputs, outputs, and process
- Experience using RiskWorks
- Skilled in Tableau
- Skilled in Excel
- Experience using APIs for developing or programming software
- Skilled in ServiceNow to manage digital workflows
