Job Description

If you're going to build a serious career in indirect tax, do it somewhere that gives you three things: complex work, brand leverage, and a city that actually makes sense to live in.

This role sits within a globally recognised advisory firm with a dominant position in the Spanish market. The Madrid office is a core hub, not a satellite. Major clients, international exposure, real decision-making power.

Importantly, this is not a compliance-heavy VAT role. The focus is advisory, structuring, inspections and strategic positioning. Compliance exists, but it is not the driver.

You'd be joining a National Indirect Tax team that works on:
  • High-value VAT advisory and structuring
  • Managing and defending tax inspections
  • Cross-border projects with multinational groups
  • VAT recovery strategy, exemptions and sector-specific advisory
  • Customs, special and environmental taxes
  • Risk identification and opportunity analysis
This is forward-looking work. Clients come to this team when the matter is complex, exposed, or commercially sensitive, not when they need a return filed.

What's on offer:
  • Advisory-led exposure. Less routine compliance, more strategic VAT work and inspection defence
  • High-profile client base. Multinationals and complex groups operating across borders
  • Clear progression path. Defined route beyond Manager within a structured international firm
  • Brand leverage. Experience that strengthens your long-term market positioning
  • International collaboration. Cross-border projects without needing to relocate
  • Leadership responsibility. Manage workstreams and develop junior talent
  • Competitive compensation aligned with Madrid Big 4 market standards + performance bonus
  • Stability + scale. Established platform with long-term growth strategy
  • Madrid lifestyle advantage. Career acceleration in one of Europe's most liveable capitals.
What we're looking for:
  • Degree in Law, Business or similar (Master's in Tax preferred)
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in Tax (strong VAT focus)
  • Professional English and Spanish language skills
  • Ability to operate autonomously in an advisory environment
