Our client is a highly acquisitive commercial giant, with a huge domestic and international presence stretching all across Europe, employing over 10,000 people.
Having had tremendous growth, particularly in the last 10 years, they have approached us to exclusively recruit an Internal Audit & Risk Manager, based in Dublin, Ireland. This is a brand-newly created role, so the upward opportunities are unpreceded and endless. That said, we are specifically targeting someone who will be in the short term the right-hand-person to the 'Head of', and their successor in the medium-long term.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit & Risk, the Internal Audit and Risk Manager will line-manage a small team of Senior Internal Auditors, and assist in the successful delivery of the Internal Audit programme across the Group. Given the rapid expansion of the Group, the responsibilities will change and grow over time, but the core responsibilities will centre around the following:
- Developing a thorough understanding of the Group's operations in order to identify the risks facing the Group.
- Performing and leading high-quality audits across the Group in line with best practice, including audit planning, execution and the preparation of written reports with clear recommendations, delivering robust and value adding feedback to senior management.
- Performing special projects and post-acquisition review work as requested by the Board and Senior Management.
- Using data analytics to create efficiencies in the audit process and providing insights to members of the business.
- Providing an advisory service with regard to internal controls, procedures and other risk related queries as required.
- Following up with the business to ensure audit recommendations are addressed within agreed timeframes.
- Drafting of quarterly/ monthly reports summarising activity compared to Annual Plan.
- Assisting the Group Head of Internal Audit & Risk in Board and Executive Risk Committee and Audit Committee reporting.
- Managing, leading, motivating, coaching and developing other team members to excel in their roles and advance professionally.
The successful candidate will be a confident, dependable, strong person, who can fit into the Group seamlessly and adopt a hands-on approach to their role. In line with the Group's ambitious growth plans, the role presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to excel both in IA, Risk and beyond. Travel will be possible but limited to around 10% of the time. The company operates a flexible hybrid office/home working policy too (2/3 days in, the rest working from home).
We are looking for a great person, so have flexibility on the background needed for this role. That said, it's likely the person will be either: practice-trained (i.e., Big 4 or Top 10), with external audit/internal audit/risk advisory/accountancy experience; an established IA professional, working in industry; or a mix of the two. Holding a relevant qualification (i.e., ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIA etc.), with some post-qualification experience will be helpful, but not essential. Industry-relevant experience, particularly in another commercial setting (manufacturing, tech, media, retail, FMCG, or logistics) would be highly advantageous.
Are you looking to grow your career in a vastly expanding business, in an IA line-management role? We'd love to hear from you.
