Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cyber Security Engineer to join our security team in Perth, WA. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is passionate about information security and eager to develop hands-on experience in protecting systems, networks, and data from cyber threats.You will work closely with senior security engineers and IT teams to monitor security controls, respond to incidents, and support ongoing security initiatives. Key Responsibilities:Monitor security alerts, logs, and dashboards to identify potential threats or vulnerabilitiesAssist in investigating and responding to security incidents and alertsSupport vulnerability assessments, penetration testing activities, and remediation effortsHelp maintain and update security tools such as firewalls, endpoint protection, SIEM, and antivirus systemsAssist in implementing and enforcing security policies, standards, and proceduresParticipate in risk assessments and security auditsSupport patch management and system hardening activitiesDocument security findings, incidents, and remediation actionsStay up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, firewalls)Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux)Basic knowledge of cyber security concepts such as malware, phishing, vulnerabilities, and access controlStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsWillingness to learn and take direction from senior team members Preferred Qualifications:Internship, lab, or hands-on experience in cyber security or IT supportFamiliarity with security tools such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, or endpoint protectionKnowledge of cloud security basics (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS)Entry-level certifications such as Security+, Network+, or equivalent
