R&D Tax Credit Manager - European CPA firm - Atlanta

We're seeking a full-time Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit Manager to join a growing public accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to advise clients on tax-saving opportunities, including credits, refunds, and deductions tied to R&D-related investments. You'll serve as a trusted advisor, guiding clients through the complexities of R&D tax credits while ensuring compliance and maximizing benefits.

This position is ideal for someone who brings strong leadership skills, enjoys client-facing work, and is eager to take on a role with growth potential. They're in the process of succession planning and looking for someone with the ability to step up and lead the practice in the coming years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multiple R&D Tax Credit engagements, primarily within the manufacturing and distribution industries.
  • Conduct client interviews, perform detailed calculations, and oversee technical analyses.
  • Draft technical memoranda and provide insights on R&D credit matters.
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and manage expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on proposals, business development, and client strategy.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and feedback to junior staff.
  • Travel to client sites as needed for interviews and on-site procedures.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • 7-10 years of R&D Tax Credit experience, including 5+ years leading engagements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Tax, or a related field.
  • Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to thrive in a team-based environment.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations.
